Cuyahoga Falls gets past Tallmadge boys hoops team

The host Tallmadge boys basketball team fell to 5-3 on the season after losing a 71-60 decision to Cuyahoga Falls Dec. 28 at James O. Maddox Court.

The Black Tigers (6-3) took a 38-25 lead at halftime, thanks to eight three-pointers. Jay Slone knocked down five from three-point distance in the second quarter on his way to a team-high 19 points.

The Blue Devils trimmed their margin to single digits on a few occassions in the second half, but Falls converted shots and free throws to maintain its comfortable lead down the stretch.

Angelo Cugini and Josh Ricker added 18 and 15 points, respectively, for the Black Tigers.

Tallmadge was led by Andrew Francesconi's game-high 27 points. Colten Stricker had 12 points and Justin Cambria added 11 points for the Blue Devils.
