Gymnast fares well

Lauren Moses, a seventh-grade student at Tallmadge Middle School, recently competed at the Luau in Leos Gymnastics Invitational March 7 at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.

She placed first in the all-around competition with a score of 36.55. She also placed first on bars (9.425), second on vault (9.375) and third on beam (8.75).

Lauren is a Level 9 gymnast and competes for Perfect Balance Gymnastics in Green.

Join Sapphires

The 12-and-younger Sapphires fastpitch softball team is looking for players for the tournament season in the summer.

The team is seeking a second pitcher and two more position players. All spots are open (infield and outfield).

Practices take place in March and April from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. at a private facility close to the freeway in Bedford Heights.

Lacrosse coming up

Jump Start Sports, through the Aurora parks-rec department is scheduled to offer lacrosse Wednesdays at 6 p.m. from April 16 to May 21.

It is set to take place on the fields in front of Aurora High School.

The cost is $70 for residents and $75 for non-residents. All equipment will be provided. No helmets or shoulder pads will be used.
