Williams' walk-off homer leads Tallmadge softball past Green

The host Tallmadge softball team improved to 15-3 overall and 9-1 in the Suburban League after posting a 1-0 victory over Green May 6.

Left fielder Nicolette Williams smacked a 2-0 pitch over the fence in left field with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lady Blue Devils the win.

Right-hander Kirsten Lightel went the distance in the circle to pick up the victory. She finished with 12 strikeouts and allowed just one hit. She also hit one batter.

The Lady Blue Devils had runners on first and second with no outs in the fourth and bases loaded and no outs in the fifth. Tallmadge came away empty in both innings.

The Lady Blue Devils had zero hits in eight at bats with runners in scoring position. Tallmadge finished with just six hits.

Green (9-8, 5-6) did not have a hit in nine at bats with runners on base. The Lady Bulldogs had a runner reach second base only one time.
