The Tallmadge softball team advanced to a Division II regional title game.

The Lady Blue Devils (23-3) earned a 5-1 victory over Poland Seminary May 28 at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

Right-hander Kirsten Lightel went the distance in the circle to get the win. She finished with 10 strikeouts and just one walk and improved to 21-2.

Kali Stroud hit a two-out, solo home run over the fence in left field to give Tallmadge a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

The Lady Blue Devils got more two-out magic in the fourth when Brandy Wakefield smacked a run-scoring single to left.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-9) got on the board in the top of the fifth when Tallmadge was just a hair late trying to get the runner at home on a bunt by Phoebe Bush.

But the Lady Blue Devils put it away in the bottom of the fifth.

Joanna Catalano hit a two-run double to make it 4-1 and later came home on a wild pitch.

Stroud also had a double and scored two runs. Taylor Phillips had two bunt singles and a run scored.

Tallmadge finished with eight hits and four errors. Poland Seminary had two hits and one error.

The Lady Bulldogs did not get their first hit until pitcher Taylor Miokovic hit a double to the fence in left-center in the fifth.

Miokovic (14-5), a left-hander, took the loss in the circle.

Tallmadge is scheduled to play the Jefferson Area-Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary winner in a regional title contest May 31 at Firestone Stadium. First pitch is set for noon.
