The Tallmadge softball team's glorious season has come to an end.
The Lady Blue Devils lost a 3-1 decision to Lima Bath in a Division II state semifinal game June 5 at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
With the loss, Tallmadge, which made its 15th trip to the state semifinals, finished 24-4.
The Wildkittens improved to 28-1.
Right-hander Kimmy Reynolds got the win on the mound to improve to 27-1. Lady Blue Devils' right-hander Kirsten Lightel took the loss. She finished 21-3.
Bath got on the board in the top of the first.
Julia Miller drove in the first run of the game with a double to left-center field.
The Wildkittens made it 2-0 in the fourth when Kara Dienstberger's grounder was just out of the reach of Tallmadge right-hander Joanna Catalano.
That scored pinch runner Tara Herr, who came into the game after Miller doubled to right-center.
Bath got an unearned run in the fifth to make it 3-0. Ellie Dackin reached on an error in left field and eventually scored on a single by Jenna Hollar.
The Lady Blue Devils got their only run in the sixth. Joanna Catalano got it started with a double to the fence to left-center with two outs. Tori Young then drove her home with a single to center.
But Reynolds got out of further trouble and got a 1-2-3 in the seventh to finish the game.
Tallmadge outhit the Wildkittens 6-4. The Lady Blue Devils had two errors and Bath had one error.
Lightel finished with nine strikeout and issued no walks.
