Tallmadge teen places third in Mansfield

Zach Mosholder, a 2014 Tallmadge graduate, finished in a four-way tie for third with a 222 (73-76-73) in the boys 16-to-18 age group at the PGA Junior Series event July 16 at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield.

Garret Buckley of Novi, Mich., won the title with a 216 (71-71-74). Colin Bowles of Oceana, W. Va., took second with a 220 (73-74-73). A total of 93 golfers competed.

Mosholder also finished fifth with a 153 (76-77) in the championship flight of the 75th annual Phillip A. Rogers Good Park Junior Golf Tournament, which concluded at J.E. Good Park Golf Course in Akron.

He earned medalist honors with a 7-over-par 64 in the opening round, which was a Good Park Junior Tournament record. That score also tied the course record.

A total of 120 boys, ages 13 to 18, competed in the opening round.

Mosholder is scheduled to play in the PGA Junior National Tournament July 29 through Aug. 1 at Miramont Country Club in Bryan/College Station, Texas.

He qualified after finishing first (142, 74-68) in the Junior PGA Sectional Tournament, which concluded June 23 at Shady Hollow Country Club in Massillon.
