Resident fares well
at Junior Olympics
Tallmadge resident Ravyn Edge, 12, competed in the 2014 Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics Track and Field which concluded Aug. 2 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
More than 17,000 athletes from all over the country qualified and came to compete. Ravyn ran her best time ever in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 5 minutes, 16.62 seconds and placing her 13th in the nation.
She knocked off more than 20 seconds from her seed time. Ravyn set a personal record in her 800 with a time of 2:32, which placed her 16th in the nation.
Ravyn also competed in the long jump. She runs for the Akron All Star Track Club. This is her fourth time competing in the AAU Jr. Olympics.
