Tallmadge distance runner places eighth in Canton

The Tallmadge girls cross country team placed 10th with 312 points at the 17-team Division I race of the 2014 GlenOak Golden Eagle Invitational Aug. 23 at GlenOak High School in Canton.

Nordonia won the competition with 47 points and Twinsburg (106) and Hudson (121) finished second and third, respectively.

Wadsworth's Lindsey Leatherman beat 137 runners to win the race in 19 minutes, 49.7 seconds.

Brin Stralka led the Lady Blue Devils with an eighth-place time of 20:38.3

Rounding out the top five for Tallmadge were Anna Bartlett (51st, 22:40.2), Vanessa Lane (86th 24:24.7), Victoria Murray (101st, 25:25.8) and Kaitlyn Meadows (107th, 25:46.2).

The Blue Devil boys placed 17th with 474 points in the 22-team Division I race.

Louisville won the competition with 69 points and Cleveland St. Ignatius (80) and GlenOak (127) finished second and third, respectively.

Hudson's Kyle Mau beat 172 other runners to win in a time of 16:00.3.

Nick Murray led Tallmadge wth a 90th-place time of 18:31.2.

Rounding out the top five for the Blue Devils were Nick Penix (108th, 18:44.6), D.J. Kinon (137th, 19:15.1), Jordan Sapper (172nd, 19:57.9) and Zach Murray (184th, 20:13.7).
