Tallmadge girls golfers make drastic improvement in Lake Milton

The Tallmadge girls golf team finished sixth with a score of 414 at the nine-team Southeast Lady Pirate Invitational Aug. 10 at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton.

Akron Springfield won the competition with a score of 364 and Akron Archbishop Hoban (365) and Youngstown Ursuline (370) placed second and third, respectively.

Ursuline's Sydney Heinbaugh was the medalist with a score of 79.

Freshman Lizzie Bickar led the Lady Blue Devils with a score of 92. Also contributing for Tallmadge were sophomores Meah Dixon (104), Laney Lucas (107) and Marissa Graham (111).

The Lady Blue Devils placed 13th with a score of 465 at the Kent Roosevelt Lady Rough Rider Invitational Aug. 6 at The Fairways at Twin Lakes in Kent.

The Kent junior varsity team won the 13-team competition with a score of 362 and Aurora (368) and Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (372) placed second and third, respectively.

Copley's Kiley Blachaniec was the medalist with a score of 83.

Bickar led Tallmadge with a score of 99. Also contributing to the Lady Blue Devils' team score were Lucas (118), junior Monica Cahill (121) and Dixon (127).

The Lady Blue Devils were scheduled to compete at the Suburban League Preseason Tournament Aug. 12 at Barberton Brookside Country Club in Norton. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to visit Suburban League American Conference rival Kent Roosevelt Aug. 24 at the Fairways of Twin Lakes. Play is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
