The host Tallmadge boys golf team made a stellar debut on its home course.
The Blue Devils improved to 1-0 in 2016 after posting a 364-385 victory over Ellet Aug. 15 at Maplecrest Golf Club in Kent.
Noah Bowser led the way with a career-best score of 83 to earn medalist honors and Jake Pallotta and Liam Tokash each shot a 92 for the Blue Devils.
Rounding out the team scoring for Tallmadge was Austin Moore (97).
"We have emphasized repeatedly that this season's measuring stick will be improvement, not the win/loss record," Blue Devils head coach Jon Shomo said. "It is still nice to see the guys get some reward for their efforts, though.
"There was improvement. All five Blue Devils broke 100 for the first time this season. Liam Tokash and Brandon Gray had their best rounds of the season as well.
"We still have a lot of improving to do and stern tests await."
Tallmadge finished 16th with a score of 390 at the 18-team Twinsburg Invitational Aug. 11 at Gleneagles Golf Club in Twinsburg.
Avon Lake won the competition with a score of 302. Highland (312) and Copley (325) placed second and third, respectively.
Bowser led the Blue Devils with a score of 85. Also contributing to Tallmadge's team score were Pallotta (96), Tokash (97) and Brandon Gray (112).
The Blue Devils are set to host Suburban League crossover rival Wadsworth Aug. 22 at Maplecrest.
They are scheduled to entertain Western Reserve Academy Aug. 25. Both matches are set to begin at 3:10 p.m.
