Lady Blue Devils have some depth
The Tallmadge girls tennis team has 16 girls on the roster this fall.
The Lady Blue Devils hope their depth can lead to more wins.
Tallmadge finished 2015 with a 1-15 overall record and was winless in its first year of the Suburban League American Conference.
The Lady Blue Devils opened their 2016 season with a 5-0 loss to Suburban League crossover rival Wadsworth Aug. 17 on the road.
Tallmadge lost four seniors to graduation.
They are Allison Evans, Erin McLaughlin, Brittani Frick and Katelynn Ridenour.
But the Lady Blue Devils' cupboard is far from bare.
Four seniors return to the team.
They are Katelynn Ramp, who played first singles against the Lady Grizzlies, Hannah Moats (second singles), Madison Gray (third singles) and Cindy Lam.
Returning juniors are Kimmie Tran, Angel Labbe, Callie Murray, Melissa Sincel, Megan Strate and Lauren Bradshaw.
Other juniors are Lauren Roupe, Mya Solomon and Carsynn Boykin.
Strate and Roupe played first doubles and Labbe and Sincel competed at second doubles against Wadsworth.
Rounding out the squad are freshmen Alexis Harnack, Ariyanah Waino and Bella Yates.
Tallmadge is led by head coach Russell Wormald, who has been with the team since the early 1990s.
The Lady Blue Devils were scheduled to make their home debut against Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Aug. 18.
They are set to compete at the Orrville Invitational Aug. 20. Results of those matches were not available at press time.
Tallmadge is scheduled to host league crossover foe Cuyahoga Falls Aug. 22 and Manchester Aug. 23.
The Lady Blue Devils are set to visit Massillon Aug. 24. All three matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
