Girls tennis team

falls on the road

The Tallmadge girls tennis team is still seeking its first win of the season.

The Lady Blue Devils fell to 0-5 on the season after losing 5-0 to Massillon Aug. 24 on the road.

Tallmadge also lost home matches to Manchester (5-0) Aug. 23 and Suburban League crossover rival Cuyahoga Falls (5-0) Aug. 22 and had no players win at the Orrville Invitational Aug. 20.

The Lady Blue Devils also were defeated to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (5-0) Aug. 18 at home and Suburban League crossover foe Wadsworth (5-0) Aug. 17 on the road.

Tallmadge is scheduled to make its Suburban League American Conference debut Aug. 29 at Kent Roosevelt.

The Lady Blue Devils are set to visit league crossover rival Stow-Munroe Falls Aug. 30 before retuning home to play American Conference foe Copley Aug. 31. All three matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Cross country

offered twice a week

For boys and girls in grades 3 through 6, the Tallmadge Youth Cross Country club is scheduled to meet every Monday and Wednesday after school at Monroe Elementary.

Resident runs in 50-mile race

Tallmadge resident Rick Lambert, 37, placed 63rd with a time of 12 hours, 3 minutes, 59 seconds in the Burning River 100-mile/50-mile Endurance Runs & Relay 50-mile race Aug. 6.

The race started at Squire's Castle in Willoughby Hills and ended in Cuyahoga Falls.
