Tallmadge boys soccer team picks up two more wins

The host Tallmadge boys soccer team improved to 3-0 with a 5-1 victory over Field Aug. 30 at Thomas Rossiaky Stadium.

Nick Hussing scored twice and had one assist and Nate Blaser, Jason Betts and Mitch Makuch scored once for the Blue Devils, who led 3-0 at halftime.

Danny Macchiarole and Ross Haught each had one assist.

Tallmadge had a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Blue Devils goalkeeper Tommy Kilway made one save in the nets and Tallmadge backup keeper Sam Weyandt stopped three shots.

The Blue Devils earned a 1-0 win over Norton Aug. 27 on the road.

The heat proved to be brutal in this contest. The temperature was approximately 115 degrees on the Panthers' turf field.

Haught scored the lone goal. He received a diagonal pass from and cut in toward the penalty box and put a left-footed shot into the left side of the net. Haught's goal took place with less than five minutes remaining in the game.

Tallmadge was scheduled to entertain Canton McKinley Sept. 3. Results were not available at press time.

The Blue Devils are set to visit Suburban League American Conference rival Kent Roosevelt at 7 p.m.

Tallmadge is scheduled to visit Canton South Sept. 10 at 3 p.m.
