Girls fall to rival

Copley on the road

The Tallmadge girls tennis team fell to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the Suburban League American Conference after losing to Copley 3-2 Aug. 31 on the road.

Both of the Lady Blue Devils' wins took place in doubles' play.

Lauren Roupe and Megan Strate earned a 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 victory at first doubles.

Tallmadge's second doubles' team of Callie Murray and Melissa Sincel also overcame some adversity to post a 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 win.

The Lady Blue Devils lost to Suburban League crossover rival Stow-Munroe Falls 5-0 Aug. 30 on the road.

Tallmadge lost to American Conference foe Kent Roosevelt 4-1 Aug. 29 on the road.

Hannah Moats was the lone winner for the Lady Blue Devils. She won the first set 6-4 at second singles and was trailing 1-0 in the second set.

But the match was called when her opponent could not continue due to illness.

Tallmadge is scheduled to visit Suburban League crossover foe Nordonia Sept. 6 in Macedonia. The Lady Blue Devils are set to visit American Conference foe Barberton Sept. 7. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
