Tallmadge boys soccer falls to Highland and Firestone

For the first time in 2016, the Tallmadge boys soccer team has a losing streak.

The host Blue Devils fell to 6-3-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the Suburban League American Conference after falling to Highland 2-1 Sept. 27 at Thomas Rossiaky Stadium.

Jerry Walsh scored the lone goal for Tallmadge. Jared Emslander had the assist.

Blue Devils' goalkeeper Tommy Kilway made six saves in the nets.

The Hornets had an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.

Tallmadge also lost to Firestone 4-0 Sept. 24 in Akron.

The Falcons had an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal and a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.

Kilway made 10 saves in the nets and backup goalkeeper Sam Weyandt finished with two saves.

The Blue Devils were scheduled to host Suburban League crossover rival Cuyahoga Falls Oct. 1. Results were not available at press time.

Tallmadge is set to entertain American Conference foe Revere Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

The Blue Devils are scheduled to visit Cardinal Oct. 8 in Middlefield. Play is set to begin at 3 p.m.
