The Tallmadge boys soccer team has a date in a sectional title contest.
That became official after the Blue Devils earned a 2-0 victory over Canal Fulton Northwest in a Medina Division II sectional semifinal contest.
The game took place Oct. 18 at Thomas Rossiaky Stadium.
For most of the evening, Tallmadge (8-6-3) dictated the pace with its possession game.
The Blue Devils controlled the ball for much of the game with their short passes to both sides of the field.
But Tallmadge had trouble putting things together when it got close to the Indians' goal.
The Blue Devils finally found the net late in the second half.
Sophomore attacker Nick Hussing ripped a low line drive into the lower left corner of the net to make it 1-0 with 8 minutes, 30 seconds remaining in the game.
Not long after Tallmadge cleared a Northwest (4-9-3) corner kick, Hussing got free on a breakaway and scored to make it 2-0 with 2:06 left.
With the win, the Blue Devils earned a date with Coventry in a sectional title contest Oct. 22 in Akron. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
