Nine minutes, 59.9 seconds.
Twenty-four straight points.
Ten turnovers in the third quarter.
And to top it all off, no field goals in a span of more than 13 minutes.
Sadly, it was that kind of afternoon for the Theodore Roosevelt girls basketball team.
As for the opponent, the Lady Blue Devils were more than happy with those statistics.
The Lady Rough Riders dropped their third straight game after suffering a convincing 59-32 defeat to Suburban League American Conference rival Tallmadge yesterday in Kent.
When senior post player Samara Wright made a free throw with 48.9 seconds left in the first half, Roosevelt was down 31-24.
The Rough Riders didn't score again until the early stages of the fourth quarter.
The Lady Blue Devils (12-3, 5-2) rattled off 24 straight points to put the game out of reach.
When senior forward Jessica Gardella concluded the spurt with a layup, Tallmadge was up 55-24.
The Lady Rough Riders missed all 14 of their shots and had 10 turnovers in the third. Tallmadge had a knack for getting in the passing lanes, knocking the ball out of Roosevelt players' hands and blocking shots.
If the ball wasn't blocked or lost, the Lady Blue Devils retrieved it from the rim. Tallmadge had a 34-21 edge in rebounding, including 22-12 in the second half.
The Lady Blue Devils also had 10 offensive rebounds, including seven after halftime.
A total of nine players scored at least two points for the Blue Devils. Junior guard Sara Johnson led all scorers with 15 points and senior guard Olivia Ayres and junior forward Maia Aizpurua each had 9 points for Tallmadge. Senior forward Jamie McGhee finished with 8 points for the Blue Devils.
Wright led the Lady Rough Riders with 12 points and junior forward Sarah Bush added 8 points off the bench.
Neither team was particularly stellar from the free throw line. Tallmadge missed 12-of-20 shots and Roosevelt (6-9, 1-8) was a woeful 10-of-25.
The Lady Blue Devils also earned a 48-38 victory in the junior varsity game. Jordyn Severns led Tallmadge with 11 points.
