The host Tallmadge baseball team fell to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the Suburban League American Conference after suffering a 5-0 defeat to Copley April 10 at Dave Young Field.
Right-hander Tyler Hays pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout for the Indians (4-0, 4-0). Jared Burick had both hits for the Blue Devils. He had a single and a double.
Right field Tylor Revetta got things started with a solo home run to lead off the top of the second inning for Copley.
The Indians got another run in the fourth when second baseman Jordan Benson delivered a two-out, run-scoring single to right center.
Copley made it 3-0 in the sixth when Brandon Poundstone smacked a run-scoring single to center.
The Indians put the icing on the cake when first baseman Will Lutes crushed a two-out, two-run double in the seventh in the top of the seventh.
Right-hander Zach Boyd took the loss on the mound to fall to 1-2 on the season. Boyd pitched 5-1/3 innings before being relieved by left-hander Sam Seeker, who finished the game.
Tallmadge had three errors, while Copley had seven hits and stole four bases. The Blue Devils left four runners on base. The Indians stranded seven runners.
