Tallmadge softball suffers heartbreaking loss to Highland

The host Tallmadge softball team suffered its first Suburban League American Conference loss of the season in heartbreaking fashion.
The Lady Blue Devils dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the American Conference after falling to Highland 8-3 in eight innings April 12.
The Lady Blue Devils had a 3-1 lead after six innings, but the Lady Hornets rallied.
Tallmadge had nine hits and two errors. Highland finished with seven hits and one error.
Right-hander Emily Pratt, who entered the game in the fifth inning, took the loss for the Lady Blue Devils. Starting left-hander Hallie Mullett allowed just one run and two hits in four innings of work.
Gia Spitali had two hits, including a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored for Tallmadge.
Olivia Carey added two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Delanie Dadich had two hits for the Lady Blue Devils.
Brittney Fleischer had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Hannah Griffen had two hits, including a double, and a run scored for the Lady Hornets.
Alex Chorba had a home run for Highland. She finished with two RBIs. Fleischer got the win in the circle. She pitched all eight innings and had 11 strikeouts. Fleischer did not issue a single free pass.
