The Tallmadge boys tennis team picked up its first victory of the season April 13.
The host Blue Devils posted a 3-2 win over Akron Coventry.
Host Tallmadge also suffered 5-0 losses to Suburban League American Conference rivals Highland April 17 and Revere April 19. The Blue Devils lost a 3-2 decision to Akron Manchester April 18 at home.
Against Coventry, senior Chris DiPuccio earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at first singles and senior Josh Todd posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles.
Sophomore Patrick Rotunda and junior Foster Zalar scored a 6-3, 6-3 victory at first doubles.
Against Manchester, Todd and sophomore Ed Suber cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins at first and third singles, respectively.
Tallmadge (1-8, 0-5) is led by longtime head coach Russell Wormald, who has been part of both the boys and girls tennis teams since the 1990s.
The Blue Devils lost J.P. Allen, Jake Severns, Kade Moore, Chad Green and Brandon Conley to graduation.
Returning players are DiPuccio, Zalar, Rotunda, Suber and seniors Kent Hoang and Dimitri Fortseras.
Tallmadge was scheduled to compete at the Orrville Invitational April 22. Results were not available at press time.
The Blue Devils are set to visit American Conference foe Aurora April 24 before returning home to face Akron Archbishop Hoban April 25 and Uniontown Lake April 26. All three matches are set to begin at 4 p.m.
Tallmadge is scheduled to compete at the Suburban League Championships April 28 at Highland High School in Granger Township. Play is set to begin at 8 a.m.
