It took awhile, but the Tallmadge softball team still controls its own destiny when it comes to the Suburban League American Conference title.
The host Lady Blue Devils improved to 13-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference after posting a 6-5 victory over Barberton in 13 innings April 25.
Tallmadge had runners on second and third base with one out in the bottom of the 13th.
The Lady Magics decided to intentionally walk Jordyn Severns, but on ball four, the ball got away from the Barberton catcher.
The runner on third, Olivia Ayres, raced for home plate and slid under the tag for the winning run as the throw was dropped.
The Lady Blue Devils trailed 4-1 after the first inning. Tallmadge scored twice in the third and once more in the seventh to force extra innings.
The Lady Blue Devils had 10 hits and two errors. The Lady Magics had 11 hits and four errors.
Right-hander Emily Pratt pitched all 13 innings to get the win. She allowed one earned run and had 15 strikeouts and two walks.
Autumn Malicoat had three hits, including a triple, a walk, two runs scored and a run batted in to lead Tallmadge.
Madison Rearick added three hits, a walk, a run scored and an RBI for the Lady Blue Devils.
Gia Spitali had a double, a run scored and an RBI for Tallmadge.
