Field honors former coach

The family of the late Bill Crasi (1960-2015) wishes to acknowledge his extended family, friends and the Aurora Raptors softball program who were instrumental in financing a new scoreboard at Field 6, the girls varsity softball field.

Additional thanks go to Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin and other city officials for seeing the scoreboard project through. A dedication plaque will soon be installed on the wall of the home dugout.

As stated by one of the most devoted coaches to Aurora softball, Sam Petrash, "It was a pleasure to give back to the memory of Bill. He gave so much more to the girls than just softball and other sports.

"The Raptors appreciate everything he gave to the program and we hope that everyone remembers the contributions he made to the community whenever they look to the scoreboard."

Crasi coached softball, baseball, basketball and soccer. According to his colleague Tom Mulvaney, "the word 'dedication' is appropriate, for it was Bill's dedication to coaching that only begins to sum up his commitment to youth sports in the city.
